I started Bold Creatives to explore different aspects of design entrepreneurship with small real-life design cases.
During my studies I did many interesting projects. A small selection of projects I am proud of are showcased below. Please refer to my academic portfolio to see all my work.
Harmony explores new functionalities in the IoT home. A family of devices promotes social interactions and help users to collaboratively take care of the daily chores in the Smart Home.
First-hand research unveiled the problematic sitting behavior of elderly suffering from dementia. By applying a research-through-design method an adaptive seating system was designed. An active & healthy sitting posture vitalizes physical and mental health.
Design furniture for a luxury event market. A new inflatable material provides interesting opportunities for combining compact transport with premium aesthetics.
I believe that the best and most creative work is created when there is passion & fun at the heart of the project. It can make the most challenging tasks feel effortless. So what about a little music while reading on?
After my studies at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, where I developed a strong foundation in industrial product design, I decided to continue my studies with a master’s in industrial design. After doing some electives in innovation management I decided to combine to two masters in a double degree.
At Eindhoven University of Technology I deepen my knowledge & refine my expertise in the following topics:
• User-Centered IoT Design
• Design Thinking & Innovation
• Leadership & Entrepreneurship
• Research-Through-Design
Committees
External Affairs – Master Activity Committee at S.V.I.D Lucid
At Erasmus University Rotterdam I deepen my knowledge & refine my expertise in the following topics:
• Innovation Management
• Strategic Entrepreneurship
Committees
Program Manager – Student Founders Program at ECEstudents
During my studies at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, I developed a strong foundation in classical product design. I gained extensive knowledge of product development and design processes. Close collaboration with businesses trained me to think from both the consumer’s and the company’s point of view. The developed products were both aesthetically pleasing and functional. During this bachelor, I started to develop an interest in the strategic aspects of design. In most projects, I made sure that a successful and realistic product was the ultimate outcome. I am still looking for ways to further develop this expertise area.
I did two internships at internationally operating companies. As a “designer in the field” I got inspired by and developed my feeling for aesthetics and business thinking. I experienced what it takes to really make things happen. By having full responsibility for big projects within the company, I learned to collaborate closely with several important stakeholders. It helped me to develop an understanding of business and with making my designs realistic for the relevant market or target group. This “business sense” in design is something that I want to master. I currently do so by pursuing a master’s degree in industrial design focused on leadership and entrepreneurship. I am looking for ways to help businesses excel in design and innovation.
Currently, I’m challenging myself to look for bigger problems at Eindhoven University of Technology. My master’s expertise is focused on leadership & entrepreneurship. Combining design with real-world business. In projects, I am interested in incorporating emerging technologies in peoples lives in a new and meaningful way. Combining people and technology always creates an interesting mix.
Working in and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
Applying emerging technologies in a user-centered way.
Helping businesses spark innovation by design.
Using design to solve complex problems in business.
Here are some details and fun facts about me and my professional life.
I study and live in Eindhoven, but spend some of my weekends in The Hague.
Dutch is my mother tongue and I am professionally proficient in English. On a trip to France, some of the basics of the French language sometimes show to be useful.
I am a big fan of all sorts of music. Most of my free time is spend experiencing music in different ways. I also like to be active. Currently, I am rowing, but I tend to mix it up sometimes.
I hope to someday advocate the importance of design & innovation across industries. Inspiring others and teaching generations to come.
It is always nice to meet new people.
